Default I don't want to post here

My little Gizmo who I have only had 5 days was getting so use to me. I have been sitting with the cage open everday and Gizmo and Baby would come out and climb to the top of their cage. I just sit and watch them. I haven't been handleing them because I don't want to scare them. I am trying to let them get use to me. I have been talking to them for hours a day.
Well today when Gizmo came out of his cage he kept getting closer and closer to me. I was so excited. He never actually came all the way to me but he was getting more and more comfortable with me.
Then this evening, I opened their cage and within a few minutes here comes Gizmo out of his cage. He climbed to the top of it and was sitting there. My doorbell rang and the dogs started barking and I guess it scared Gizzy. He tried to take off flying and dropped to the floor on his way down he hit the corner of my end table. I ran over to get him but he couldn't walk. I scooped him up and took off to the emergancy vet. He just layed there scared. They checked him and did an exray. My poor baby broke his back and was bleeding internally. There was nothing they could do for him and put him to sleep.
I am so freaked and upset I don't know what to do. I feel so bad like I let him down. I was suppose to take care of him and he is gone.

Unhappy Oh no

..I am so sorry to hear that. This is every bird owner's nightmare.
Don't blame yourself. It was an accident.
This can happen to anybody..., it wasn't your fault.
Your little Gizmo is in heaven now with my Schnappi and a lot of other budgies..

Oh so sorry to hear of your loss. I know how much fun you were having with him. It isn't your fault, you were giving him the best life you could. Accidents happen.
Fly high Gizmo.

Thank you both. I am just sick to my stomach, and poor Baby looks so confused.

I am so sorry this happened How terrible it must be

Know it is not your fault and you had no control over what could have happened. At least now, Gizmo is not suffering any more.

I really hope Baby can pull through

Rest in Peace Gizmo

I'm sure he wouldn't blame you; you did everything in your power to try to save him. I experienced a similar situation recently in which one of my budgies died despite all of her medication and seemingly getting better. I only had her for a short period of time as well. What counts is that you made the best of the time you did have with him.

Rest peacefully, Gizmo.

Tricia we are so sorry to hear of your loss *BIG Hugs*

It is a terrible thing to happen and definitely one of the toughest times that you and your family will go through, but please do not beat yourself up about it. In no way is it your fault, there is not a thing that you could have done to prevent it, I know that you feel that maybe you could have stopped it somehow but at the end of the day, you can only do so much, without being psychic you could not have seen the events that were going to unfold and you did everything that you could possibly have done by taking Gizmo straight to the emergency vet.

Always remember that he knows that you love him with all you have and that you miss him terribly, just know that you will always keep him with you in your heart and be strong for Baby, it is now that she needs you more than ever. It was a tragic accident and Gizmo was taken from you much much too soon, I hope that you find peace soon, remember he will be with you forever in your heart. Our thoughts are with you, if you ever need us, we are here for you, just say the word.

R.I.P Gizmo fly high little baby, you were taken too soon

{{{Tricia}}} I'm in tears! I'm so sorry that this happend to your sweet Gizmo. I could tell through your posts since you joined here how much you love your babies and how you want to do so right by them. I admire the patience you show them and how you think of them and not just yourself.

Gizmo has gone far too soon, but I hope you understand that its not your fault. Accidents happen and thats exactly what this was an accident. Though Gizmo's life was short it was a good one with you, he had someone who loved and cared for him and I'm sure he knew that.

I wish you peace and healing!

Oh my gosh, Tricia.....I'm sitting here in tears as well! I am SOOOO very sorry for you....and know you are completely devastated. I was reading your post and smiling as I was imagining how excited you were....and I began to think "oh no, he flew out the door"..... I wasn't expecting an ending like that, just as I'm sure you weren't.

Please accept my deepest sympathies, prayers and hugs. I know you are absolutely heartsick right now and I wish there was something we could do to ease your pain. I can only echo everyone else in saying that it was in NO way, shape or form, your fault! That truly was a freak accident. I am so impressed at how sensitive you were to his needs and trying so hard to do everything right so he would trust you. You are a wonderful Mama and will continue to be one... of this, I have no doubt.

Wishing you peace & Love,
Danielle

RIP Gizmo.....newest angel in Budgie Heaven
