Default Night Fright

A couple of weeks ago I lost my girls Nyla and Wattle in a freak night fright incident. Their night light is a bright lamp left on in my living room, the cat knocked it over while chasing a mouse and smashed the bulb. In their panic the two girls were injured and found the next morning already gone. Olympus was involved also but I found her alive yet very cold and lethargic and was able to save her. Lotus suffered an injured leg and lost complete mobility but anti inflammatory meds seemed to help because she's regained movement back this week. My bedroom is on the opposite end of the house so I didn't hear any of this but found the whole mess when I woke up, including the mouse (what was left of it). I've locked the cats out of that room at night now and added a back-up light but what's done is done.

Wattle and Nyla were my first 2 hens, very closely bonded. I'm glad they are still together.

Fly free my beautiful girls

OWh Allie you have had a terrible run of unfortunate luck and circumstances regarding your flock, I am happy that the going of them together helps you heal . Fly free and high ladies you will never be forgotten. Allie hugs to you I do prey this is the end of your horror run regarding the loveliest flock around. Take care

Oh no, I'm so sorry you lost two of your precious and beautiful budgie girls like that. You have my deepest sympathies.
I hope both Olympus and Lotus make a full recovery and are able to soon forget all about this very unfortunate accident.

Rest in peace, Wattle and Nyla. You were much loved and will be missed.

I've been thinking the same thing. Could it get any worse? Probably yes but it's been pretty hard, losing Azure and Quiche last year. The 4 escapees this year, Storm's illness, Gracie's tumor and now this. I hope that nothing else goes wrong the rest of this year but I guess when you have a lot of birds there's always the possibility of things going wrong and we're still ironing out the kinks in our setup.

Thanks Cathy

Thank you. This is the first time we've lost birds to an accident so the suddenness of it was very upsetting. Both Olympus and Lotus are doing great, thankfully.

Allie,

I'm so very sorry for your loss of Wattle and Nyla.

You certainly have had more than your share of loss and turmoil with your flock this year and hopefully it has now come to an end.

Fly high and free Wattle and Nyla, rest peacefully little ones.

Me too. I thought adding the light would mean the end of them but I never thought about the possibility of the light going out Thanks Despina
