Hello all, I thought I would update...
We are blessed to have a wonderful avian vet 15 minutes away.
We brought Pudgie back to the vet for a recheck yesterday. He biopsied the tumor and said he was 99.9% sure it was cancer.
The growth is under his skin so there wasn't a color noticeable. Also, it was extremely hard and immovable.
The vet never gave us the option of surgery. Maybe the location made it difficult. I really think it was because he seemed so unstable, he probably would not have survived.
We were told to offer comfort care. And if he looked like he was in too much pain, to bring him in to be put to sleep.
Sadly, a few hours after this visit, he passed away. That was my first bird death and I do not think I could go through that ever again. :-(
Thanks for your responses.
Oh I am so sorry to hear this , but it is a blessing he went while he was relatively happy and full of beans. He is at the rain Bow Bridge now where he can fly free and high. You will feel better with time and be able to smile when you remember him I promise. Take care in time you might be able to open your heart to another budgie.

Rest in Peace, dear sweet Pudgie. Keep his cute face and happy song close to your heart, and he will be with you forever. I am so sorry for your loss. Pudgie was a special little guy. I hope that someday you will find another budgie to share your love and good care. I think Pudgie would like that.

Hold those special moments you shared with Pudgie close to your heart and be thankful for the special gift you shared. Very often there is a blessing hidden
in such a painful challenge. Prayers and Blessings, Jo Ann
I'm so sorry for your loss... It's never easy to say goodbye to a much beloved pet, you have my deepest sympathies. Time will heal the pain from losing your Pudgie and the hole left in your heart by his departure will soon be filled with the wonderful memories of the good times you had with him. Maybe one day you will even get a new little friend to brighten your days again.
Rest in peace, Pudgie. You were much loved and will be missed.
RIP sweet Tito (Summer 2008 - January 17th 2013).
You are missed and never will be forgotten.
I am so sorry you have lost your beautiful Pudgie budgie. The horrible flip side of the incredible joy he gave you is the intense pain you are now feeling. Given time, you may be able to open your home and heart to another budgie who needs you.
Fly high and free, Pudgie!
G'day! My name is Lynda and I am a practicing Budgieoholic! I have no intention of EVER changing that!
So sorry Pudgie's story ended in such sadness. Sometimes its easier when our pets make the decision for us. The good news is the pain eventually gets less and less. One day you will only think of the joy Pudgie brought to your life.
