Our dear little parakeet got out of the house in June and never came back. It was tragic. The back door was left open for a moment when she was out. She never came in the back of the house on her own, would usually just perch outside her cage so we weren't expecting it. She never went close before, but came out of nowhere, weaved through the sun room and out. The kids were playing in the yard and saw her leave as I chased out after her. They both cried fell and cried as we chased her down the driveway and she disappeared. We didn't know where. Put up ads and flyers, but didn't hear anything. Lesson learned. She was such a close part of our family, would walk around on the shoulders of my little kids. We all loved her.
I'm so sorry you had that happen... Still there is the possibility that she is alive and well and someone else has rescued and given her a good home.
I have rescued many stray pet birds over the years (mostly budgies and canaries) and when there were no claims of ownership have adopted them into my flock, so there is always that little glimmer of hope that your budgie girl has found a new home.
I hope one day you will be able to open your heart to another little budgie.
RIP sweet Tito (Summer 2008 - January 17th 2013).
You are missed and never will be forgotten.
