Nemo was a special budgie for me. I rescued her when no one else wanted her. She had been eggbound before I got her, and the ordeal left her crippled. Her right leg stuck straight out and was almost usless, and she could not fly very well.
While re-homing some of my birds a few months ago, I came across a gentle old man, looking to give his love to a budgie. He's not far from me, and he himself is in a wheelchair.
They were a perfect match.
I brought her over to his place and they fell in love. He had a brand new cage all set up for her, lots of toys and fresh fruits and veggies ready to go.
He would take pictures of her every week and e-mail me with updates. She was having the time of her life! I'm so glad they found each other.
He called me over the weekend to tell me that Nemo suddently passed away. He noticed that she was sitting in her seed dish, so he scooped her out and she snuggled in to him as she passed.
My you be whole, and fly freely! My dear Nemo.
