Goodbye, Ziggy

Ziggy was only with me for seven months. He passed during the night one week ago. (Every other time I've tried to write this, I've broken down weeping.) I miss my loud, doofy, skittish boy.

As seems common, there was very little warning. He was entirely himself all day Sunday. I did notice some off-color droppings, but I'd done a really significant cage-and-area cleaning Saturday, which always stressed him out. (See above re: skittish.) I just assumed it was stress, and since there were no other signs (no puffed feathers, weird respiration, tail bobbing etc.), I just made a mental note to keep an eye on things. But the next morning he was gone.

I'm grateful for the seven months we had.

I'm sorry to hear of your sad loss Karen, Ziggy will always be with you in your thoughts, in time you may feel strong enough to replace Ziggy, I hope you do because you obviously loved him and cared for him, take your time to mourn him but please don't forget we are here for you if you want a chat.
RIP Ziggy

Rest in Peace, sweet handsome Ziggy. Keep his cute face and happy song close to your heart, and he will be with you forever. They leave us much too soon. I, too, hope that when you are ready, you will find another little budgie to love. I think Ziggy would like that.

I'm so sorry to hear this...:( It's truly heartbreaking when they leave us so soon, you have my deepest sympathies. Time will heal the pain you are feeling and soon you will be able to remember all the memories of the good times you had with your Ziggy. He will forever live on in your heart.

Rest in peace, little Ziggy. You were much loved and will be missed.

It's always so difficult when our buddies pass away no matter how long they shared our lives.
May your heart heal but never forget the fun Ziggy brought. :grouphug:

Karen, I am so sorry to hear about Ziggy.i understand how much it hurts when you lose them so quickly after you get them. We lost Holly 3 months after we got her. It's a terrible feeling. I know it seems impossible to fathom right now, but the tears stop, and happy memories take over, sometimes accompanied by some tears. And that's ok. This pain will eventually pass. I know it hurts like hell now, but this too, will pass. I know you loved Ziggy with all your heart and soul, and he loved you just as much. You were his mommy, his provider, and his friend. He was your son, your passion, and your friend. You will see him again at the rainbow bridge and you both will be rejoined once again. I do hope that your pain subsides and your heart heals soon. Ziggy is healed, and healthy and happy, with a hole in his heart where you will go when you both meet. You have our deepest sympathies and sincerest condolences.

R.I.P. little Ziggy, fly high and free and sing a beautiful song. You will see your mommy after a while.

-Kristen

Thanks, everyone; your messages are much appreciated. I had my other bird, Duke, checked out after Ziggy passed, and this morning I learned he tested positive for AGY. Trying very hard not to devolve into a useless mess of self-blame. (You know how it is: I keep the cage clean, but maybe not clean ENOUGH. Why haven't I been watering with ACV all along? and so on, and so on.) Please wish us luck for successful treatment.
