Unhappy Echo Is Gone...

I'm still mourning over the loss of my dear Echo... I miss him everytime i just look at birds or a parakeet, etc... He flew away on May 24th and we only saw him a couple of times... I never got to see him once ever again and i'm still sad. I don't think he actually survived or maybe and hopefully he has been rescued and is being taken care of but... that's a small chance... I cried so much when he flew away, I don't like blaming but the real reason why he escaped was because my Dad wouldn't let me put back in the birds' cage back into the house because of the "mess" they make. I come back nearly 30 minutes later and when i check and see to put the bird's cage back in, i started to freak out so much and i bursted straight into tears for more than an hour.

He was my favorite parakeet because he would always be so happy to see me whenever i would come home. Everytime i open the door and step in, Echo would start chirping like crazy and climb all over the cage walls just to see me. I loved him and it's so hard to get over the feeling of the loss of your first pet... YOUR FIRST PET. That just wants to make me mourn more because he was my first and the very first... Now Swingy is all alone.

Because Echo is gone (I believe that this is the reason), Swingy starts to spend ALOT more time to the mirror (I guess to not be lonely). I don't want to take it out (I only do when i have to clean it), because Swingy will be EXTREMELY Lonely... Everytime i take the mirror out and go to wash it for about 5 minutes or less and put it back. As soon as she sees it from outside of the cage she starts going towards it. If i put it outside the bars but near her she goes straight towards it and wants to start nibbling and "interacting" with the other parakeet. She seems so lonely and her only friend right now is the mirror. She also started feather picking a bit and she pinches herself WAY to hard (Everyday she featherpicks and she bites herself to hard and yelps). I don't like the habits she is starting to build up. It may cause to alot more problems later... and i hope that doesn't happen.

R.I.P. WHEREVER YOU MAY BE MY PRECIOUS ECHO

i am so sorry to hear about your Echo. Just reading about Echo makes me sad. I pray for Swingy that Echo will come home soon for her. I hope that if not, then someone else who loves budgies as much as you do, will love Echo the way you did and much more.
I am sorry that your Dad didnt realize how much Echo meant to you, does he feel bad about it?
I think that in a little while, maybe you should get Swingy another mate so that she wont be so lonely, i know that you can see her pain.... just please intereact with Swingy as much as possible .... i know that you know all of this.... I hope that your parents will let you get a new budgie friend for Swingy in the future...
I hope Echo returns....
keep us updated. We're here for you. I pray for Echo's safe return. *HUGS*

I'm so sorry about Echo! I had hoped and prayed for Echo to come back! It may take you some time before the pain lessons. It took me seven years to get to the point where I could look at a photo of my dog Bandit without crying. I know how it is to lose an animal friend that you are so close to and love so much. (((HuGs)))

I think its a great idea to get Swingy a new friend..sounds like she could use one of her own kind.

Yes, i do hope that i can possibly get Swingy a new friend but we thought about that a week after Echo flew away and the idea never came back. There is a high chance that i might NOT be able to get her a new friend... ooh this mourning just really makes me all sad and more worried.

I'm sorry about Echo flying away
But most of the time when birds fly away another person finds them and keeps them if they cant find the owner. Did you check craigslist, kijiji, etc in case people posted about a found budgie?

It does sound like Swingy needs a friend. Picking feathers isnt good and neither is her obession with the mirror.

I feel so sad about Echo. It's never easy to lose friends. You'll think about them for a long time to come. And then when you think it's over, you'll remember him again.
Grief passes. But memories live on.

p. s. I think Springy can use a friend.

EchoSwingy--

why did you say that there is a high chance you will NoT be able to get Swingy a new friend? Is it because of your Dad or because you cant bare the thought of going thorugh this feeling again?

It's probably because of my Dad not wanting to get another one (always about the money). I wish i could but i'm not that sure... soo.. I really hope i can soon enough.

It is always difficult to bring a pet into a family when not all members are prepared to accept it and its needs. It sounds like you budgie does need a friend so I hope a solution can be found. Check your local papers and you may be able to find one that someone needs to rehome and would be willing to just give it to you. If I may, if you have any kind of income (ie. allowance) you should put some aside to save for potential vet bills.

I am sorry that you lost Echo in this way.
