Tonight we decided to end the suffering of my 16yo budgie Pysia. He's been fighting many infections, and today he went downhill really quickly. He was already behaving oddly for a few days but between last night and today his health went quickly South. By the end of the day he was fluffed up to the size of a tennis ball, and barely responsive. He just wanted to be cuddled.
His chirps became deeper and his breathing was hard, he was holding on, but it seemed to be by a thread.
After 16 years of pure happiness, love, caring from him we decided to the right thing, and end his suffering.
Our vet was gentle, and let me hold him. I wouldn't have had it any other way. It only took a couple of minutes and his eyes were closed the whole time. It's like he went to sleep. It was soo peaceful and dignified, just what he deserved. At 8:00pm he passed.
We wrapped his beautiful body in an amazing silk handkerchief we bought in Japan once, and put him in a nice jewelry box we had.
We had organised a cremation service for him, and the lady came to pick up his body at 9:30pm. She started the business after she couldn't find a place to honestly cremate her pet cat, so I knew she'd look after him.
Tonight the wind blows strong, even though it was meant to be a calm night. I know pysia is spreading his wings and flapping them hard.
I'm so sorry for your loss... You have my deepest sympathies. I know how difficult it is to reach that decision, but you did the right thing for Pysia.
He is now at peace and free of any pain. You were very blessed to have had him for 16 years and I'm sure the many memories of the times spent with your precious budgie boy will give you comfort.
Rest in peace, Pysia. You were much loved and will be missed.
RIP sweet Tito (Summer 2008 - January 17th 2013).
You are missed and never will be forgotten.
This is very sad news, I've read a few of your other posts and sounds like you've both had a real tough time. I'm glad you managed you got some quiet time together in the end and know you've done the right thing. I'm sorry for your loss, remember the good times.
I'm so very sorry for your loss of darling Pysia.
I know how hard it is to let go of our beloved pets.
What a wonderful blessing that you were able to have him as part of your life for 16 happy years.
Helping little Pysia move on in his journey was the kindest and most loving thing you could have done for him. (hug)
Fly high and free sweet Pysia; rest peacefully little man.
I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday, and days before that too.
I think of you in silence. I often speak your name.
Now all I have is memories, and your picture in a frame.
Your memory is my keepsake, with which I’ll never part.
God has you in his keeping.
I have you in my heart.

Rest in Peace, sweet handsome wonderful Pysia. Keep his cute face and happy song close to your heart, and he will be with you forever. The most difficult decisions are made with the greatest love. Pysia left this world with you by his side as it was for 16 years. Still, it must seem like he left much too soon. I am so sorry for your loss.
I share a tear and in your sadness, although Pysia is not physically here he is always just a smile or memory recall away
