I've been missing in action for a while now. Maybe you remember my posting about a sick budgie named Honey? Just in case you don't here she is:
Sadly she died a few months ago. My sister and I noticed that she was fluffed up a little and wasn't as active as she normally was. Then we noticed that she was in pain when she tried to go to the bathroom. She wasn't eating much and we just thought she was constipated. Then she got worse. She was in a huge amount of pain and started constantly tried to pass something. Then we thought she might be egg bound. So we took her to the vet. They didn't care. They didn't even know anything about budgies.
This was the best vet in our area and was a teaching/veterinary hospital, so we thought they could do something for her. He couldn't even tell the other budgie in the cage was male. He looked at her from across the room and said she's not egg bound. He picked her up and said he didn't know what was wrong and to go home and see if it gets better, there's nothing they can do.
We got home and tried to sit her on something warm but she wouldn't sit still. She died that night. My sister and I are devastated. We know we probably could have done more to help but we've never had to deal with this before and we didn't want to hurt her even more trying to deal with it ourselves. We're angry the vet did nothing to help whatsoever.
Sorry this post is so long but both my sister and I need to vent our anger to people who also care about their little friends.

Rest in Peace, sweet beautiful Honey. Keep her cute face and happy song close to your heart, and she will be with you forever. I am so sorry for your loss. And I am sorry that your experience with the vet was so terrible. You tried your best.
Sorry to hear about your little Honey. She was beautiful. Just try and think she isnt in any pain now and will be flying high at Rainbow Bridge. I lost my little Blue budgie just before Christmas. So i know how you feel. She will always be with you. Its funny how a tiny bird can leave such a hole in your heart.
I am sorry for your loss. I am not sure id you know this or not but you would want to take him/her to an avian vet if you ever get another birdie. Regular vets usually know nothing about birds I am glad your bird had a compassionate owner that did the best they can. She was indeed a sweet litle bird
