I have known about this forum for a while and have often come and checked what people had to say about taking good care of their budgie. I was sure I would post someday but took my time, since Batik was quite young. Unfortunately, death beat me to it, and my budgie passed away this evening. :.(
Batik was born on 5th. September 2014, and he came to live with me in mid-October 2014. Soon, he got used to living with me. He was fully flighted, and would live in my apartment with me. In fact, he would follow me from room to room in my apartment, and he would always try to get involved in whatever I was doing! I am from France but live in Ireland and I speak French, English and Irish. Because I love languages, I proceeded to teach Batik how to speak. Batik never really learned any Irish, but he really took to French. At the time of his death, he knew about 20 full sentences, mostly in French, and fifty other words besides.
Batik was fine this morning. He ate, he drank, we played a little and spent quite a lot of time together. And this evening, he had what looked like a seizure. The breeder who sold Batik to me is a good friend and also a neighbour. I called the breeder and he came in as soon as, but it was too late. Within two minutes, Batik had died! :.(
I knew this bird would not live forever, but I can't believe he died at the age of 1. It seems very unfair, to me, but mostly to him. He had a good life though, even if his life was very short. He will be very sorely missed. :.( Anyway, I felt like talking about him tonight, so if you are, I don't know, online and willing to "talk budgie", you may always reply to this. Feel free to ask me any question about that cracking bird we all knew under the name of Batik. xxxxx :.(

Hello and welcome. it is heart rending to loose our dear little ones. It never gets easy and many people do not understand. this is why TB people support each other in the happy times and the hard times. There are a million wonderful heartfelt stories to share. Batik is a beautiful Budgie. His personality shines. It helps to make a memorial to remember him. It is so amazing that there is a complicated organism under all those wonderful feathers and shiny button eyes.
In 2 years a young parakeet completes the equivalent of a young adult human. So yes . he is too young to pass but focus on the wonderful life you had together and and know his little spirit is still with you. Fly free little one and be at peace for you are loved. Blessings, Jo Ann
I'm so sorry for your loss... It's never easy to part with a much beloved little friend, you have my deepest sympathies.
Time will ease the pain and hopefully soon the memories of your sweet boy will give you comfort.
Rest in peace, little Batik. You were much loved and will be missed.
And despite the very sad circumstances, welcome to Talk Budgies.
RIP sweet Tito (Summer 2008 - January 17th 2013).
You are missed and never will be forgotten.
I hope this helps you. It helped me when my little Blue suddenly died. "I'll lend you, for a little while, a bird of mine, He said. For you to love while he lives, and mourn when he is dead. It may be six or seven years, or maybe twenty-three, But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me? He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief, You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief. I cannot promise he will stay, as all from earth return, But there are lessons taught down there I want this bird to learn.
I've looked the whole world over in my search for teachers true, And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes, I have selected you. Now will you give him all your love - not think this labor vain, Nor hate me when I come to call, to take him back again. I fancied that I heard them say, 'Dear Lord, thy will be done.' For all the joy this bird shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run. We'll shower him with tenderness and love him while we may, And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay.
And should the angels call for him much sooner than we planned, We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand."
Batik was a lovely little fellow by the sounds. No matter how long we share with them it is never enough time . Smiles will return when his name is spoken once again , the tears are part of the process and show the bond and care you both had for each other. He is now free from pain and flying high with our Angel Flock!. Fly high and free Batik.
So sorry for your loss of Batik. What a beautiful little budgie. Sounds like you have lots of wonderful happy memories to help you thru this difficult time. Batik is now that little feathered angel on your shoulder. Feel free to contact me whenever you need to. I just lost two budgies this past week.
I'm so very sorry for your loss of beautiful little Batik.
I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday, and days before that too.
I think of you in silence. I often speak your name.
Now all I have is memories, and your picture in a frame.
Your memory is my keepsake, with which Iíll never part.
God has you in his keeping.
I have you in my heart.
Fly high and soar free darling Batik; rest peacefully sweet boy.
Welcome to the forums despite the sad circumstances
I'm so sorry to hear you lost your little boy Batik. He was beautiful and obviously very clever, and I know you'll never forget him although his time with you was short. You were the best caretaker to him he could have ever had, and his love for you proved that.
Now all I can say is that I hope you feel better soon in such a difficult time.
Rest in peace, little Batik, fly high among the stars.
and Princess Mallorn!
Thank you to Deb for her wonderful Faery magic
