It breaks my heart to deliver this news..
hose of you who remember my post a while back about my rescued hen, 'Rose', know about the horrible conditions she was saved from. Rose, lost her battle with Leukemia (caused onset by the lead poisoning she suffered), on the morning of the 18th of October, 2015.
I felt it right to post this and let all the wonderful people who wished her well in her recovery, know that Rose fought hard til the end, and was a beautiful character and nature, not to mention a pleasure to be able to offer a good life for the short one she had left.
We didn't find out that Rose had developed Leukemia until her health all of a sudden went down hill very quickly, just when she was almost fully recovered from the lead poisoning. Again, the cancer was caused onset by the lead -zinc poisoning, and we were devastated to hear that we couldn't do anything to help her.
It hurt us even more, in her last days, watching her sit on her perch all day and look down, refusing to play or eat and drink enough, but she did fight long and hard, for 6 months mind you- she was determined to keep on living, even though her body wouldn't let her, she still let her adventurous side come through and she was the happiest id ever seen a bird as sick as her. Rose was not tame, but she formed a special bond with me. For hours each day, she would sit with me while I typed documents, snuggling into my neck and singing soft melodic, budgie tunes.
She really was Special my Rose, and deep down I think she knew we loved her, I will miss her with all my heart and may she find peace at her resting place.
She was a fighter, a strong soul with a big heart. A piece of my heart left with her when she passed away on the morning of the 18th of october, 2015.
I have attached my favorite photo of her
