Default My everything gone

So 5 weeks ago my little baby lilac passed away from being sick. That last week we tried everything and took him to numerous vets and gave us medication and he was getting better and started to snuggle with us under our chins. I really thought that he'll be okay until Saturday November 14 2015, at 7:00 me and my brother were feeding him and then after we fed him we sat down but he suddenly couldn't hold himself up with his feet and just kind of layed in my brothers hands and was breathing hard. At this point I started panicking I couldn't loose him. Then with my family surrounding him he truned his head at my brother and died. I can't take this, words will never describe how I feel. I knew that day would happen but it was too soon my baby is gone and I can't function. I'm spending as much time as I can with my other budgie and it's heart breaking watching her all alone and scared. I'm being as gentle as I can with her. I miss him so much I just want to see him again. We are so grateful to have such a wonderful bird in our lives. I just wish I had more time with him.

I also need advice wether to get a new budgie to keep my girl company and how long should I wait before getting one

He's the little blue one
Rip lilac 2014-2015 I lost him way too soon

I am so very sorry for your loss of baby Lilac. You did everything you could and I'm sure Lilac knew that. He is no longer suffering and is now watching over you and your brother and his other budgie friend.

I'm very sorry for your loss of little Lilac.
It is because of Love we Grieve
and
Because of Love we are also comforted
in our Sorrow

In Memories, may you find Healing
In Time, may you find Peace
In the Power of Love, may you find Comfort.

Fly High and Free little one -- Rest In Peace.

You asked about getting another budgie as a friend for your female.
How is she doing on her own?
Is she active, happy, and eating and playing normally?
How much time do you and your brother spend with her each day?
Do you play music for her when you are away?

If she seems happy, active and engaged, she will probably be fine as a solo budgies. If she seems depressed, then I would consider getting her a new friend.

If you decide to get another budgie, please be sure to quarantine it for a minimum of 45 days.

Quarantine means housing your new bird in a different cage in a different room as far away as possible from the room where your current bird(s) are housed.
Budgies mask symptoms when they are ill. Symptoms may not show up for over two weeks.
Often you will not even realize your bird is not well. Many budgie illnesses are airborne which is why you need to quarantine your new bird in a completely different room.

It is also a good idea to always take a new budgie in to see an Avian Vet for a "well-birdie" check-up. This allows you to develop a good relationship with the vet and the vet can establish a baseline for your bird in case of any future illnesses or injuries.

Sorry to hear that your Lilac has gone...

As far as moving forward goes, I think Deborah has covered all
considerations on that very well for you.

thank you all so much , both me and my brother have school which is eight hours a day and my mother stays home and keeps her company as well. when I come home I spend at least four hours with her talking and feeding her. She sings and makes little chirps but is frightened very easily and isn't very close with us, she used to follow lilac every where and they were inseparable. She's doing a lot better than before but sometimes she sits at the far back of the cage and refuses to come out and just sits there. there was this distinct chirp that lilac and her would do and I sometimes hear her do it, it's very upsetting. Should I play budgie chirping music for her?

Very sorry for your loss. Lilac was such a beautiful blue birdie and may he now rest in peace across the rainbow bridge.

I'm so sorry for your loss of sweet Lilac . I hope that eventually your sadness will fade and you will be left with the good memories of the short time you had with him. I think you are doing the right thing spending more time with your other budgie. I would wait awhile and give you and her some time to grieve before thinking about getting a new friend for her.
