Default RIP Ollie

This morning I went to check on my budgies as usual and found Ollie passed away lying on the bottom of the cage.

This was a huge shock to me because the day before he was his usual happy self.
This is my first loss of a budgie & I'm worried for my other male budgie Charlie who used to snuggle with Ollie all the time they were really the best of friends.

Now I have two girls and one boy & I'm hoping Charlie doesn't become sad without his mate.

It's hard not knowing what happened and I'm afraid that I'll lose another one of my budgies now

I can only guess that it was maybe caused by a night fright that the budgies sometimes have and that he injured himself

Anyway I thought I'd let everyone know what's happened.
I also haven't been online much because we have no internet at the moment and I can only post off my phone.
Hope everyone's budgies are doing well!

I'm so sorry for your Ollie's very unexpected departure... It's especially difficult when they go so suddenly, you have my deepest sympathies.
Since Ollie showed no signs of illness, it's possible his heart has failed him and if this is the case, then your flock won't be at risk. Be sure to give them some extra TLC and keep a watchful eye on them. If something seems off, then an appointment at the avian vet may put your mind at ease.

I'm wishing you all the best in this very challenging time and hope your flock is able to cope well and adjust to the new reality, especially Charlie.

Rest in peace, Ollie. You were much loved and will be missed.

Thank you, I really do think it may have been his heart because I do keep a watchful eye on my budgies and I never noticed even slight illness symptoms.

Poor Charlie is really missing his best friend. I will be watching them carefully over the next few weeks to see how they cope..
I may need to get a new budgie male friend for Charlie if the girls won't be nice to him as I'm worried the two girls will pick on him now his alone, but we will see how things go.

Thank you for your kind words in this hard time

Sarah,

I'm so very sorry to hear about the loss of your little Ollie
Time cannot steal the treasures
that we carry in our hearts.
Nor ever dim the shining thoughts
our cherished past imparts
For the memories of the ones
we loved still cast a gentle glow,
To grace our days and light
our paths, wherever we may go.
~Author Unknown

Fly high and soar free sweet Ollie; rest peacefully wee man.

Sarah,

I'm so very sorry to hear of Ollie's passing. It's never easy to lose a being so close to your heart, and it doesn't get easier with each loss. BUT, time will heal your sorrow, and the memories will mend your heart. Take some time and let Charlie, and yourself mourn. It's a necessary part of the grieving process that just needs to happen. You can always get Charlie a new male mate, but give him some time to mourn as well. He will. When my Holly died, Peatri called for her for about a week or so after she passed. It's heart wrenching, but it's unfortunately just the way it happens. You are an amazing budgie mom, and Ollie, as well as the rest of your flock, are well taken care of, as all of us can see. Ollie is a beautiful soul, and a had a gorgeous body here on Earth. He has now gone to the Rainbow Bridge, fully mended and whole, healthy and happy. He waits patiently for you there, and will be so excited to see you when the time comes.

You have our sincerest condolences, and deepest sympathies for Ollie's sudden passing. If there's anything you need to talk about, please feel free to pm me. I know how hard this is, as a lot of our members unfortunately know.

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When a bird dies that has been especially close to someone here, that bird goes to the Rainbow Bridge.
At the Rainbow Bridge there are meadows and hills and beautiful trees of all kinds where all our special friends can fly and climb, hang and flap, hop and run, jump and play, squawk and squeal and sing together.

There is plenty of good food, including grapes and peanuts, ice cream and cheese, spaghetti and especially lots of pizza. There is crystal clear water in brooks and springs are filled with water as well as every kind of delicious fresh fruit juice.

One warm spring even runs full of the coffee they can now drink their fill of without hearing a single no-no. There is lots of glorious sunshine, and sweet warm rain when they want it and our friends are warm and comfortable and totally at peace.

All the birds who had been ill or old are restored to health and vigor and to their natural incredible beauty. Their feathers shine, their wing feathers are whole, and their eyes gleam once again with vitality.

Those who were hurt or maimed or ignored or broken-hearted are made whole and strong and free of fear again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days gone by.

The birds are happy and content..... except for one small thing - they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind when the bird returned home. Still they all fly and play happily and safely and noisily together - even the grouchiest greys and orneriest senegals, the tiniest finches and the grandest macaws.

But the day comes for each bird when he suddenly stops and looks far into the distance. His body freezes and his bright eyes are intent as he watches and listens in silence. Suddenly he begins to fly from the group, soaring over the green grass, his wings flapping harder and harder!

You have been spotted - and he shrieks to you and then calls your name and his own and cries again and again and as he rushes toward you.

When you and your bird finally meet, you cling to each other in joyous reunion, knowing you will never be parted again.

Your face and your fingers - and even your toes - are covered with beak nibbles and soft ecstatic kisses. Your hair is preened by that special beak, and his head bends under your fingers to invite your touch. Your hands again find their way under beloved wings, to caress the downy softness beneath.

You look once more into the trusting eyes of your companion-so long gone from your physical life on earth, but never for an instant absent from your heart.

Your tears of joy are gently brushed away by those beloved wings... and feeling immersed once more in total contentment and love, you and your beloved companion cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

Again, I'm so very sorry for your loss.
