We did finally take he in and turns out she actually had a cancerous tumor on he lady parts. The vet said Rickey tried to help her by feeding her but she was just not getting the nutrients anymore. He said she would have just gotten worse.sobwe made the right call today sending her into her sky. We will be singing Lucy in the sky with diamonds. They didn't even need to give the real injection he just have her something to calm her and she passed. He said really sick birds do this. It ended quickly for her but she looked like she was in peace. Fly free little Lucy we have given you the best last few years you could have ever asked for. Little rescue Lucy
I'm sorry for your family's loss of darling Lucy.
What you did by setting her free to continue her journey to the Rainbow Bridge was brave, strong, and the greatest gift of selfless love you could offer her.
I'll lend you,
for a little while, a bird of mine, He said.
For you to love while she lives,
and mourn when she is dead.
It may be six or seven years, or maybe twenty-three,
But will you, till I call her back, take care of her for me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you, and shall her stay be brief,
You'll have her lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay, as all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there I want this bird to learn.
I've looked the whole world over in my search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes, I have selected you.
Now will you give her all your love - not think this labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call, to take her back again.
I fancied that I heard them say, 'Dear Lord, thy will be done.'
For all the joy this bird shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shower her with tenderness and love her while we may,
And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay.
And should the angels call for her much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand."

It is because of Love we Grieve
Because of Love we are also comforted
in our Sorrow
In Memories, may you find Healing
In Time, may you find Peace
In the Power of Love, may you find Comfort.
Fly High and Free little Lucy -- Rest In Peace, sweet girl
Jessica, those pictures of your family saying goodbye to little Lucy were very touching.
I know how much she meant to all of you and she clearly has left a deep impression in all of your hearts that will never fade.
Letting go can be even harder than having no control over when they pass away, sometimes, I know, and you did a wonderful thing by letting her pass in peace.
She was certainly happy, surrounded by family and all who loved her until the very end. You clearly have done a wonderful job with her and I can't imagine how much she will be missed.
Lucy, you were a beautiful, darling girl and you have left memories that can't ever be replaced. Sleep well among the stars, in peace and free of pain.
I'm sure she's waiting for you at the gates of heaven and you'll see her again some day Until then, think of her fondly and smile through your tears at the life you shared with her.
I hope you, Rickey, and the rest of the family find a light in the darkness while you mourn for your darling Lucy.
and Princess Mallorn!
Thank you to Deb for her wonderful Faery magic
Thank you all. We are still all just in shock still. I just turned 30 have 3'kids and have never had to deal, with such a great loss. She will always weigh heavy on me though as it was my decision to take her in today rather than "wed" like every wanted me to. But after hearing she was just ready from the vet I felt like my decision was valid. It still hurts as tiny as they are got they do leave such a huge hole.
You have my deepest sympathies over your Lucy's passing. I know how heartbreakingly difficult it is to reach that decision, but in the end we have to do the right thing when we run out of options in terms of providing quality of life to our pets. Now your Lucy is no longer in pain and is made whole again, she is flying free in rainbow bridge with all our beloved little friends that have departed.
It's good that you all had the time to say goodbye to Lucy and to make her feel so much loved while she was getting ready for her journey (I did the very same thing with my beloved dog, Elvis).
Cherish the precious moments of the good times you had with Lucy. Your budgie girl will continue to live on in your hearts. I'm sending my prayers and best wishes to you, your family and Rickey in this very challenging time.
Be sure to give Rickey some extra TLC.
Rest in peace, beautiful Lucy. You were much loved and will be missed.
RIP sweet Tito (Summer 2008 - January 17th 2013).
You are missed and never will be forgotten.
