Unhappy My budgie flew away and I don't think he survived :(

I have so many memories about my little baby budgie Draco he was only 3 months, he didn't deserve to die it was all my fault, I forgot to close one of the doors and he flew out the worst part is, I don't know where he is or what he's going through. My baby was terrified of the dark, how much he have slept at night out there what if my baby starved to death, he never ate anhrbjnf but seeds even if I offered him other foods what if a predator got him I'm praying that he didn't die a slow death, I'm praying that he's not suffering at this moment. It's all because of me and my stupid mistake I spent every second of he day with him for a month. He was barely in his cage. I remember all the sounds he would make. All the silly things he would do are flashing past my head right now. He would fly to the curtains and then dangle on it upside down. He always loved playing on the chandelier. He would sing to me when I showered. I miss him so much and I just don't know how to cope I feel so many things it happened so fast, I would do anything to get him back literally anything. He was my baby my entire life for that month revolved around my little baby he just didn't deserve it. He was such a happy baby. I cannot live with myself and I don't think I will ever forgive myself. Rest in peace my angel, wherever you are 😭😭😭

Im so sorry this has happened and the stress it is causing you. Please be gentle to yourself it was an accident.
When did Draco escape? There have been a few success stories here on the forum of escaped birds being reunited with their owners.

Put his cage outside and play budgie sounds (ideally in it )
Check with all the local vets, pet shelters and pet shops incase someone found him and brought him to one if these places.
Put flyers up around the community and in letter boxes.
Alert all the neighbours and call on the schools in the area.

I'm praying that Draco is safe and that you will be reunited.

Where are you located? (Country / state that is)

I'm sorry that Draco got out and flew away.
This can happen to anyone and is a mistake that others have made. Birds naturally will just fly off, no matter how strong their bond is, instinct kicks in.
You should try and find something creative to do or a way to 'give back', maybe volunteer at an animal shelter if you can, something that will be you helping out other animals so that you can release yourself of some guilt.

Draco sounds like he loved you lots and on some occasions, our animals we love are taken from us before we are ready for them to leave.

I hope you can find some peace for yourself. Maybe you can plant something in the garden to remember him with. I think you should do something as an act of letting him go, to help you move on and heal.

Hi, I'm located in Auckland NZ. I've put up flyers everywhere, I walked around the neighbourhood. I left his caged outside on the roof.
It's been 3 days

Sorry such a sad event brings you here. Dont give up hope, and please forgive yourself. You have good weather there, along with food and water so he can survive. As other's have said put up flyers, put up notices on social media, and keep looking and talking to folks in the surrounding area. Prayers for his return.....

Yes I want to donate somewhere, thank you for that idea. I will also frame a picture of him and make a memorial. I just can't believe he's gone. He was mine, he was in my arms just 3 days ago. If only I wasn't so stupid, we could be so happy together

Please don't be hard on yourself. I just lost my baby Skeeter and I do wonder whether I should have handled things differently, I can't give in to self blame --it's hard enough being without your little friend. Here's hoping for his safe return!

I am so sorry this happened to you I understand how you're feeling; my Tony and I have been through this twice! I was fortunate enough to get him back both times though. But the stress and sadness I experienced while he was gone - it was overwhelming.
Please don't think the worst though; budgies are very resourceful, and since you are in NZ, the weather is still pretty good, isn't it? So he has a good chance of flocking with some wild birds and finding food. And you never know, maybe someone finds him. Don't give up.
I am sending my best wishes to you and your little guy

You've received good suggestions with regard actions you can take to try to locate your little fellow.
I believe making a memorial, and donating to an animal organization, as Therm suggested will help you begin to heal.
You have my sympathy in the loss of little Draco.
I'm sending prayers for you to have strength during this difficult time a.nd I truly hope you and Draco will be reunited.
