Exclamation Sudden Death of My Budgie

Hello, i have 2 budgies. They were totally fine today. I checked them 2 hours ago, everything was normal. Like 10 minutes ago, I went to check them again and my one budgie was dead... He was lying on the ground of the cage... I really don't understand how this happened. He was 4 years old.

I'm in shock and just want to know the reason of this sudden death... Thanks...

I'm sorry you've come to the forum under such sad circumstances.

From the descriptive portion of your post (which I removed due to the graphic detail) it does sound as if your two birds may have been fighting.

However, there is no way anyone on the forum can answer your question. If you truly want an answer, you can take your budgie's body to an Avian Vet for a necropsy. The vet may be able to tell you the cause.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

Please keep in mind your remaining budgie is going to be grieving the loss of his friend. Be sure to spend lots of time with him and give him extra love and care.

I saw the earlier post before it was edited, and I believe they were fighting. Feathers missing seems to point to them being pulled out, and he couldn't of pulled them out on his own head... I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry to welcome you to the forums under such sad circumstances

It must be very hard for you to have to experience something like this so suddenly. Be sure to give your remaining budgie lots of love and TLC.

You have my deepest condolences for your loss and I hope your other little one continues to be well

Fly high, little one, rest well.

I would not put another bird in with the current budgie since you are unsure of whether fighting was the cause of the death of the one you lost. If the current bird has an aggressive temperament with other budgies, you will be risking a repeat of the situation.

I'm closing this thread now. I hope you will take the time to look through the forum. There is a great deal of good information on the best practices for caring for your budgie to ensure its optimum health and well-being.

Best wishes.
