Cory has became an angel

Unfortunately, after getting severely sick twice for no apparent reason and seemed to be recovered fully after that, Cory has reached the rainbow bridge. After the second recovery with crop wash and faeces samples resulting negative in any type of infection, he seemed to be fine but I have asked to do further tests to understand why that has happened and how to prevent it from happening again. A few weeks passed after we got the appointment and he looked indeed healed, active and singing all along and everything seemed fine. Even the vet, the day before he passed away, thought he looked healthy and chirping but did further tests to understand the cause that brought him getting so sick that he almost died last month, as when that happened he was too weak to do anything other than crop washing (and even then they told us to be prepared, as he could have died while doing that). CT Scan, Blood test and Faeces samples were taken that day and no anaesthetic was required as he was such a good boy. We were supposed to get the results on Friday the 17th of March. Unfortunately the day after the tests he started to look very sick again and died in my arms a little bit after midnight, taking his last breath the same day we were supposed to get the results.

It came out that he has a heart anomaly that seems to be rare in small birds and probably got worse when he got sick the first time. His heart failed and there was nothing to do. His departure devastated me and he will be deeply missed.

Ally,

I'm so very sorry for your loss of beautiful Cory.
I know how much you loved him.
I'll lend you,
for a little while, a bird of mine, He said.
For you to love while he lives,
and mourn when he is dead.

It may be six or seven years, or maybe twenty-three,
But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, as all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there I want this bird to learn.

I've looked the whole world over in my search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes, I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love - not think this labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call, to take him back again.
I fancied that I heard them say, 'Dear Lord, thy will be done.'
For all the joy this bird shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shower him with tenderness and love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay.

And should the angels call for him much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.

Request from Rainbow Bridge
by Constance Jenkins

Weep not for me though I am gone
Into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not for long
Upon my soul's sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul's at rest
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed
For all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife.
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.

Thank you both :001_wub:

We are all very shocked by his departure. Melody was constantly sick before, yet she managed to recover but for Cory nothing could be done. That night me and my partner took rounds of 30 minutes each because we had the feeling he might not survive the night and Cory waited for me to say goodbye before leaving his tiny body. I've cremated him and am waiting for his ashes to be returned to me.

I'm very sorry to hear this. :( It's never easy to part with a much beloved little friend, you have my deepest sympathies.
As your heart heals, may the memories of the good times you had with Cory give you comfort.

Rest in peace, Cory.

Ally - I am so sorry to hear your sweet Cory did not make it. You did everything you possibly could, but sometimes nothing will keep their little life in them. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your great loss
