Default Bonejingles flew into the side of her cage in the middle of the night...

Self descriptive title. They sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and flap around the cage, doesn't take much. It's right next to my bed (No other place for it) so I could even just be talking in my sleep and waking them every now and then. Well, tonight, she flew into the side of her cage... Heard a usual bang like when the land on it, then some funny chirps, so I pulled the cover off and she was on her back on the bottom, not breathing. Nothing I could do. 4 AM, vet over 20 minutes away and shut at this time... ;-; I do keep their cage covered with two blankets, one of them nice and heated covering half. Looks like it'll just be Chitters on his own now...

If a bird often has night frights and fly around, it's best to have a night light on.
it doesn't stop the fright, but it means the bird can see where it's going and prevent accidental injury.
This isn't to suggest it caused the death. Sudden deaths like that are something that happens without any reason, so it seems, but for anyone who has birds that have night frights, I found the constant use of night lights until the problem went away was the only thing to do.

I thought they had to have no light to sleep... I used to use night lights for myself all the time. I only stopped for my pets... I didn't know budgies could sleep with a night light. ;-;

Jessie,

Therm is correct, you should always have a night light on in the room with your budgies.

I'm very sorry for your loss of Bojingles.
It is because of Love we Grieve
and
Because of Love we are also comforted
in our Sorrow

In Memories, may you find Healing
In Time, may you find Peace
In the Power of Love, may you find Comfort
Fly high and free little one; rest in peace.

Chitters has been calling her on and off all day... Also it's Bonejingles, not Bojingles. .-.
