I had to make the heart breaking decision today to euthanize Lily. She was suffering from avian bornavirus and had recently developed an abdominal mass that could have been a hernia or a tumor.
I brought her to the vet today because it was really obvious she wasn't doing well at all. There was nothing that the vet could do for her and she was going to continue to decline (I had taken her to the vet like 2 weeks ago and from that visit til today she had lost 5 grams). The best option was to euthanize her to ease her suffering.
I feel so terrible and guilty. Especially because none of the other birds were able to say goodbye to her. I know it was the right choice, but it was one of the hardest choices I've ever had to make.
So sorry for your loss. It's never an easy decision but I think it is the kindest thing to do when there is suffering and a continuous decline. Fly high sweet Lily.
I’m so very sorry for your loss. Lily was lucky to have such a great home, and she knew how loved she was. You are in my thoughts and my heart at this very difficult time.
I'm so sorry for your loss of Lily. Despite it being difficult, this is often the kindest thing we can do for our little ones during these types of situations.
Rest in peace, sweet Lily. Now she's resting free of pain over the Rainbow Bridge keeping an eye on everyone
You're in my thoughts during this difficult time

I'm very sorry for your loss of Lily.
You gave her the greatest selfless gift you possibly could by allowing her to move on in her journey and to end her pain and suffering.
You are in my prayers.
