I'm a first time budgie owner, and loved Charlie to death. I wanted him to be happy, because I could not tame him no matter how hard I tried, so I bought him a friend.
They got along AMAZINGLY ! They were best friends.
They'd sleep on top of the perch together, and if they had a fight before they went to sleep, in the morning, there they would be sitting beside eachother on the perch.
From my old birds, there was an elastic tied around a bar on the cage, and they always chewed on them, and played with them.
So my dad thought it would be a good idea to put more..
They loved it !
Until charlie's head got caught between two elastics.
I went over to the cage and saw, and started crying and screaming and my mom was just trying to comfort me.
You guys are the only ones who won't try to make me feel guilty, and understand what it feels like to lose a bird. It's not just a bird. It's like an amazing friend. None of my friends understand what I feel like, neither does my dad. I'm hoping to get some comfort here.
Now Snow is sleeping on the perch, by himself.
I feel horrible that I did this to him, intentionally or not.
I can barely stop crying, my face burns due to all the tears.
I plan on buying Snow another friend.
To replace his bestie.
I'm so sorry to hear about the tragic incident with Charlie
It is always hard to recover from a pet's death not only for us but for his friend Snow as well. Provide Snow with extra attention, play the radio for him, talk to him to fill the void that has been left by Charlie until you get a friend for him.
R.I.P Charlie, Fly free!
