Default Goodbye Baby

This past thursday morning I found Baby in her cage with a uterine prolapse. This came as a great surprise to me as it is her mother and sister that are my chronic layers. She showed no signs of nesting etc. I took her to the vet and they removed the egg and repaired her uterus. I asked to have her spayed but they said it was too risky and that this procedure would keep her from laying again until her next cycle so she could heal.

Much to my chagrin, they called for me to come get her and told me that there was another egg too high up to reach. I was very upset because the agreement was that all the eggs would be removed for the $300 thus giving her a fighting chance. I explained that if they told me this was a possibility that I would have humanely put her down vs her going through it again. They stated that perhaps she could pass this one or I could bring her back for another $300 repair. I told them I was less then impressed and was certain if her healthy uterus could not expell the egg that an injured uterus surely wouldn't. My poor little lady never made it that far. She died last night. Perhaps her poor little body could not handle anymore, perhaps the egg was wedged high in her uterus, perhaps she died of infection. Whatever the reason, we are very saddened by this loss. Baby was a sweet and beautiful girl whom I loved since she was a flashing heartbeat inside an egg.

Goodbye sweet girl. Fly free with your family that has gone before you. We will miss you terribly.

I'm very sorry to hear about Baby
You did everything possible, but I can understand how frustrated and angry you might feel right now.
What's done is done, all that matters is that she is in a much better place now, pain-free

Felt sorry for Baby to gone through this excruciating pain. I know it is hard to endure this misery since Baby was home raised by you.

Probably you should sit down to do a Root Cause Analysis for Baby. Find out the reason why Baby could not passed out the egg. Calcium eaten enough or not ? Vitamin D3 supplied or not (20 minutes of direct sunshine is good for Vit D3 to helps in the assimiliation of calcium) ?

RIP Baby. Fly high, fly free to wherever you wish.

I am so sorry. My vet seemed to think that chronic egg layer could have genetic component to it.

Sorry to hear about Baby. May she fly free now.

That was the name of my yellow female that died in 2004 from a tumor.
