Default Amaya is dead

There was an accident yesterday and Amaya got killed. It's all my fault. I tried to keep it together and go to calculus cause I can't really afford to miss any classes but somewhere on the highway between home and college I couldn't keep from crying. Somehow I ended up on interstate headed back home crying to my husband over the phone. Eventually he got me to leave the house to meet with a bird rescue person who was going to give us a male to live with Amaya but that only made me start crying again.

Today it's about like when I'd leave my dog with my mom. Every time I'd go to leave the house I'd think about getting her leash to take her with but she wasn't there. If someone called me for plans I'd think about what to do with her and again realize she wasn't there. It always felt like I was forgetting something. With Amaya every time I thought about coming home I'd consider if I had time to let her out of the cage. When I got home I'd greet Amaya and she'd start her high pitched chirping until I was in sight. Every time I left I felt bad I was leaving her and I'd start up a playlist of relaxation music and nature sounds that I put together for her. When I was gone I worried Amaya was left alone too much in her cage. Now those thoughts are still there but then I realize I got Amaya killed.

In just a few weeks she became a major part of my life and now I don't know what to do. It's like suddenly losing a new puppy or kitten just as they are starting to come when you call their name. I've lost lots of animals but they were all critters like gerbils, hamsters, and other things with short lifespans that don't interact much or it was a long illness and old age that we knew was coming. I've never lost an animal like this, a friend more than a pet, this suddenly and it's never so clearly been my own fault.

I'm so sorry; accidents happen, they are not anyone's 'fault', they are just accidents.
Please take care,
I hope you find some peace soon

I'm not sure I followed what happened to your beloved Amaya (lovely name by the way. , but I did want to express how sorry I am for your loss. I understand the devastating feeling of losing a special friend; in my mind, it is one of the most difficult aspects of having pets.

Please know that you are surrounded by a great community here who can empathize with your loss and help you through it.

Fly high, fly free, fly forever Amaya.

I'm so sorry honey. Life can be full of hateful things , you must not blame yourself, accidents happen . Please think about getting a new feather baby to help heal your broken heart.

Please accept my condolences.
It sounds to me like it was an accident.
May Amaya rest in peace.
