Default Red-bellied woodpecker

Two days ago, a baby female red-bellied woodpecker was found in my driveway. Her right wing was broken. I work with a very good avian vet. We patched her up and started her on antibiotics and pain meds and named her Ruby. She did great that day and the next; she ate crickets and meal worms from a pair of chopsticks I was using to feed her. When I went to bed last night she looked great. This morning, I got up to feed her and her wings were spread open and she was rolling her head back over her neck. I took her into my bathroom and did everything I could for her, but she died in my lap. Today, I'm very heavy hearted. Fly free, little Ruby.

You did everything you could, I would of done the same thing. I found a robin not long ago tangled in net, I did everything to save that poor robin, we cut the net loose but it was not enough and the poor thing died. What made it worse was that the robin that died had made a nest in our garage and we had helped her babies to fly and we held then and took some photos of them (If you want I could post some?) and then I was so upset. Don't blame yourself you did everything you could

Oh no, I am so sorry. I saw some of these beautiful birds recently, and it must be so sad to lose one.
You did everything you could...I am sorry that it didn't work out.
