Default Sir Higgins Festesworth.

I know i haven't been here in a while.. but i thought i'd post anyways. Higgins passed away on the 26th. So.. ten days ago. Here's what i wrote on another forum at the time.. i wanted to share with you all.

I went into my room last night before bed, and found him lying on the bottom of his cage. I didn't react when i first saw him. I dont know why. I just opened the cage, picked him up and took him into the kitchen where I set him on a piece of paper towel. I just kind of looked at him for a few minutes and THEN i burst out crying and couldnt stop. It was late, and i was home alone.. I clipped off a few of his feathers to keep and then i put him in the freezer like Chrissy told me to... I didnt want to go sleep on my bed because his cage is in my room so i sat on the couch with my dogs and cried. My friend called me and talked to me for like an hour.. not just about him kinda about everything just calming me down.

Frig. I knew he wasnt a healthy bird when i got him. I treated him for scaly face mites, and then when he got hurt a few months ago i took him to the vet and he got BETTER. and then BAM. he was acting fine just a few hours before i found him. I dont know what happened... i dont even know. I feel stupid like i should have done something but i dont think there was anything i could have done because i didnt notice anything off about him! or THATS what should i happened. I should have noticed something.

Im crying again when im writing this. Im waiting for my mom or dad to get home from work to help me burry him in the backyard. I have a wooden box that im going to put him in. Beside where i burred waffles a few years ago. I dont want to take apart his cage.

Rest In Peace, Higgins. I love you.

Awww, I'm so sorry about Sir Higgins.

As I am sure you know, budgies can deteriorate so quickly that by the time we notice anything wrong, it is already too late. Given that he seemed fine only a few hours before, there really wasn't much that anyone could do...

I have to say wow, he was a gorgeous budgie. Look at that olive colour and those striking cheek spots. I like how you kept some feathers to remember him by.

Sweet dreams Sir Higgins. You will be missed...

Rest in Peace, Sir Higgins. He knew how much you loved him by how well you took care of him. He's watching over you now.

I had read many adventures of Sir Higgins some months back. All portray your love for him. I know the void feeling when a beloved bird was gone. Cherish those happy moments you had with him. Blessed him.

RIP Sir Higgins. Fly high and fly free to wherever you wish.

Thanks guys. He was such a special little guy. I miss him alot. He was one of the friendliest budgies i've ever met.. he just wanted to be with people and be cuddled and talked to. I am glad that i brought him home and was able to make sure he was happy and had what he needed instead of staying at the pet store where no one wanted him because of his feet.

The plans were to bring home an english budgie hen around christmas to be his friend. I felt terrible watching him follow Cookie and Toc around, trying to be friends, and them wanting to have nothing to do with him. But thats not happening now
