Default My sweet Roger is gone

I got a call from mum this morning. She said Roger hadnt touched his seed since his vet trip yesterday, and she was very very worried. She weighed him and he had lost 4g since yesterday morning (to 40g). She called the vet but dr Oldfeild wasnt in, they said they can crop feed him if we brought him in. Needless to say mum was very upset. She called me and we headed up to the vets - a 45 min drive. About 15 minutes in to the journey, Roger passed away.
I made a thread last night about his vet trip yesterday. I talked with mum about it this morning, she said a blood test had been carried out (confirming diabetes).
Mum said he wanted to go in the cage with the other budgies last night, it was odd because usually he isnt fussed about being with them. We have had it happen before, where to us it seems the budgie knows they are going to die and they want to say goodbye. Sadly, he wasnt allowed in with the others (he had to have medicine, we were told to keep him seperate).
At least we were there when he died, although i wish we could have been home with him, not in the car. But then, we were trying to save him
At least he went quietly, no squeaking or shrieking, so we hope it was painless for him at the very least.

We are going to miss our special boy xx

I am so sorry that he did not make it. Diabetes is very serious.
But you did everything you could.
Your "second hand" bird was very fortunate that he got to live with you where he was so loved.

Oh beautiful Roger. Erika I feel so sad to hear this.
Be comforted in the fact that you were with him at the end and he wasn't alone. He put up a good fight but his little body gave out.
His time with you was happy and loving.
Fly high with the angels Roger.

Oh dear, your description here about his intention to go back to the flocks made me tear.
I think maybe he wanted to have a goodbye kiss with Badger.

At least he passed peacefully and your mom n you were there kissed him goodbye.

Not sure if u want to show him to the flocks.

Think back, Roger is very lucky to have you found him from his previous home. there aren't many budgies have the chance to live in a cage like what you have provided. Fresh foliage, native plants to play for their joys;
Unconditional love to bring them for medical care without calculating the cost.

He has been so much loved.

Fly high, fly free beautiful Roger.
You are always so missed. Beautiful blue bip.

Rest in Peace, sweet handsome Roger. He is singing with the angels now, knowing how much you and your Mom loved him. Erika, you gave him the good life he deserved.

Oh my goodness Erika I am so so sorry! Everything seemed to change so fast for Rodger, you and your mon really did do all you possibly could have done for him. He had the best home, care and love a budgie could have asked for
