My sweet Roger is gone
I got a call from mum this morning. She said Roger hadnt touched his seed since his vet trip yesterday, and she was very very worried. She weighed him and he had lost 4g since yesterday morning (to 40g). She called the vet but dr Oldfeild wasnt in, they said they can crop feed him if we brought him in. Needless to say mum was very upset. She called me and we headed up to the vets - a 45 min drive. About 15 minutes in to the journey, Roger passed away.
I made a thread last night about his vet trip yesterday. I talked with mum about it this morning, she said a blood test had been carried out (confirming diabetes).
Mum said he wanted to go in the cage with the other budgies last night, it was odd because usually he isnt fussed about being with them. We have had it happen before, where to us it seems the budgie knows they are going to die and they want to say goodbye. Sadly, he wasnt allowed in with the others (he had to have medicine, we were told to keep him seperate).
At least we were there when he died, although i wish we could have been home with him, not in the car. But then, we were trying to save him
At least he went quietly, no squeaking or shrieking, so we hope it was painless for him at the very least.
We are going to miss our special boy xx
Roger was "second hand", and unwanted in his previous home.
Please consider giving a second hand budgie a home with your flock!
Thank you tracy (intoxxication) for my new siggy!
