Had budgie for 6 years, was extremely tame, loved people, always came out of cage and flew over to us, sat on us for hours, loved to be held, cuddled in hand.
About month ago he started making strange noise, while he was eating, sleeping, even while on us. We took him to vet, the little ****** wouldn't make the noise for the vet. The vet looked him over thoroughly, listened to his chest and said he sounded and looked healthy, We took him home he was fine, still made noise every so often. Was eating, doing everything normally. Last night he was fine. This morning he was on bottom of cage laying there, one eye shut, seemed like he was paralyzed on one side, then a few minutes later he started to flutter around then, that was it, he closed his eyes and stopped breathing We have 2 budgies left, one is 12 years old, and other is 5 years old, neither are tame like he was. IM SO SAD ABOUT THIS!
I'm sorry to hear about your budgie. He obviously was in good hands with budgies as old as yours. Was he making noises like he was in pain or having trouble breathing? I have a sick budgie who is 6 years. If he makes it to 7 (late July) he'll be the oldest one I've ever been around.
Mama to Miss Kauai (budgie) aka the blue terror and Miss Chanel (green linnie)
the noise sounded like slight wheeze, but he didn't have any indications of troubled breathing, his tail wasn't bobbing, the noise was not constant, he would do it for maybe up to 5 minutes sometimes then stop, sometimes he wouldn't make the noise for days. he was not making the noise this morning.
