Unhappy Tragic Death

Two weeks after we lost the beautiful Shiney from a heart attack, we have now lost two more budgies, Cassie and Sally, very tragically.

We recently moved cities (a three day jaunt) with no issues and really happy birds - we thought - oh how lucky to have two birds that travel in a car really well....

Then yesterday happened....

At 8 am they were chirping away happily talking to each other - preening each other - 9 am - they were gone....

I jumped in the shower and returned to find the cage outside upside down, doors open, birds gone...

I knew they couldn't have gone too far - their wings were clipped - I thought the worst - they'd be eaten alive by the local cat fraternity...

OMG a whole bunch of feathers but no birds - oh goodness where have they gone?!

Mum, Mum, they are in here, in the bush!

Yay! They survived!

Both shaking, they were glad to get some cuddles before getting back in the cage for a feed, drink and some rest.

The rest of the day was spent sleeping and taking the odd drink and something to eat. One of them even perked up and we thought everything was going to be okay....

....until last night...

I was off to bed - double check the birds sitting on the table behind me - one was sitting happily on the perch sleeping away - the other huddled in the corner - still alive - just....

...I held him in my hands as he silently passed away - I thought he was going to be the one to make it but no - he was the first to go

On a positive - we thought hey, at least the other one will make it.

How wrong was I - I got up this morning to find the other on her back on the bottom on the towel I left - barely alive - and breathing only slightly.

We wrapped her up and held her as she silently slipped away.

My poor babies - they were so traumatised and stressed out - they just passed over...

;( Rest in Peace my beautiful budgies - you will never be forgotten xoxo

How awful. Your heart must be aching to lose them both so
suddenly and so tragically. I send you sympathy. I hope a
third try with budgies brought safely in your new home will
be a happy experience that lasts for years and years.

Oh, those poor babies! Well, they now rest in peace. Rip Cassie, Sally, and Shiney!

I am so sorry, I know how terrible it feels. Dont worry, we will help you. Right now all three are playing happily in budgie heaven with tons of fruits, veggies, and best of all millet seed. One day on the special day you will join them again.

If you need us we are right here!

Hmmm, I just thought, could have really been stress? I mean it could have, but they did perk up, so how did they go down again? Do you think a cat could have scratched them? As for the feathers, birds have this condition when they are scared and I mean scared out of their wits they loose clumps of feathers at once, which could have been from suprise from a cat, who scratched them and could have been carrying a deadly disease. A little extreme but, just a thought.

Again, Rip Cassie, Sally, and Shiney!

Aw I'm so sorry! What an awful thing to happen at that time. Know that they're peaceful now, but may you be comforted, I hope you can give a home to some more birds that will be a joy to you for a long time.
