Eva (the hen from my budgie pair) passed away today. She had been laying eggs lately. She was very much fine until last night. She suddenly got out of the seed bowl ( that's where she always laid her eggs) and sat away from it. Wall-e then went to the bowl and kicked out all the 4 eggs. Eva didn't react to it. After throwing them out wall-e went and sat beside her and started preening her. After that Eva clung to the cage and held it even with her beak. This got me scared and worried. I was alarmed. It was pretty late to see a vet as it was 2130 hours. She looked stressed out and sat with her eyes closed. She even let me touch her without any resistance ( which never used to be the case). I just prayed that she made it through the night and she did. In the morning I took her to vet and he said she had some infection and gave her medicine. In the evening I got the news about Eva' s demise. My wife told me that was was acting a li'l normal. Eating, hopping and stuff, but did look a little weak. I have no clue what went wrong. I m just heartbroken.
Now I am worried about wall-e.. I don't want to get another bird and don't know anyone who would take good care o f him. I can't think of a suitable place to re-home him. It's just first day so don't know how is he going to take it. I am feeling sorry for him too.
