My Pippin, who many of you will remember was the pal (even though she used to bite him ) of Peanut , was put to sleep today. She was 10 months old .She had been very ill with what I think was the same illness that Peanut had . I took her to the vets last Thursday and the vet found she was infested with worms . She had the first of two treatments and was so sick and ill afterwards. The vet gave me antibiotics last Saturday as she hoped it would help her but it made no difference. Each day she was much worse, I couldn't bear to watch her suffer any more.
I keep my birds clean, I wash their cage regularly and any fruit and veg is also washed, I can't understand why this has happened.
She had been with her new friend for just 2 weeks and they had bonded (I followed the quaranteen rules ) he is so quite and sad now. He is having treatment at the vets in case he has become infested from Pippin ,they fed each other constantly , I need to be 100% sure he is well before I buy him a friend. Pippin was the boss , but much kinder to her as yet unamed new friend , I have been calling him Birdie I didn't name him properly as I had sombody in my town who would have put Birdie in his aviary if Pippin had been as spiteful to him as she was to Peanut. I loved her for being so much nicer this time .
I hope this makes sense as I feel so miserable. Goodnight my Pippin x

Rest in Peace, dear sweet Pippin. Keep her cute face and happy song close to your heart, and she will be with you forever. The hardest decision you had to make was made with the most love. Maybe now she and Peanut are friends, watching over you and Birdie. Hugs to you, Diane.
Your story breaks my heart
May you find comfort in knowing that you are a wonderful budgie owner and went the extra mile for both Peanut and Pippin. Sometimes, life just isn't fair.
There is never enough time with our little ones, but I hope the happy memories of Pippin overshadow the fact that she left us too soon!
Thinking of you
