Default About fully white babies..

Hi! Is there any way to tell a double factor spangle (white) and a dark eyed clear (white) from birth?

(Do albino budgies also have red eyes from birth?)

Albino chicks have the red eyes from hatching, it can be easily seen by the closed eyelids.
As to the double factor spangle or dark eyed clear, I don't think you can really tell from the moment they hatch, unless you know who the chick's parents are.
Double factor budgies develop iris rings as they mature while the dark eyed clear ones keep the baby black eyes.

That's a nifty bit of information I hadn't heard before.

You're welcome!
I meant double factor spangle (forgot to add the word spangle on my previous post). The dark eyed clear's ceres on males also stay pinkish purple for the rest of their lives, just like the recessive pieds.

This is very timely for me, as I'm picking up a gentleman next
Tuesday that I do believe is a DF spangle. I know he's over
6 months old, so I'll be looking deeply into his dark, beautiful
eyes for the answer and actually know what I'm looking for

That's awesome, I can't wait to see your newcomer when you have him settled in your house! He must be quite a stunning little fellow!

You're so kind

No, he's pretty to look at, but nothing spectacular.
What sold me on him is his personality. He is
so funny, always doing something busy and making
me laugh. I look forward to his bringing some
laughter back to my flock

Just a little tip though - if the DF spangle is masking recessive pied, your bird will also have no iris rings. I had 2 birds like that, so they had me fooled for a little while, especially since the male did have a blue cere! It wasn't until he gave me a recessive pied chick that I worked it out.
