This is Pigwidgeon. I am struggling to figure out what exactly her colour is (I am hoping maybe to breed her when she is older, so I'd like to know )
She has grey colouring, lighter on her chest and tummy and really dark over her tail (normal for pieds.) Her chest and tummy colour appears to be quite bluish grey, sort of inky coloured. Her darkest patch on her rump is almost graphite. Her tail feathers (that are not pied) are black from what I can tell.
Her father was a normal sky blue (I saw him) and her mother I was told "all yellow but not with red eyes." (Since she is not spangle herself, I am assuming her mum was a dark eyed clear, which would make her split for recessive pied... My favourite mutation in the whole world, which is why I am hoping to have babies from her in the future )
There is DEFINITELY a blue tinge, especially on her chest. I even asked my husband to be sure. I think she is most likely a violet grey, but would love to hear what others think. She is definitely very cute, although I am bided
Violet is a co-dominant gene, so pigwideon could well be a violet grey, I had the same problem trying to figure out what my Marcie was! Still not sure lol! In the end this pairs babies may tell you the most about the hens mutation
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift
Appears to be a shade of blue mixed when you really look at it with gray. I do not know exactly what color this could be called. I person that works in a store that sells paint would have folders with many colors in them. The person in the store who mixes paint for customers to buy would have your answer. Check with Kelly Moore or Home Depot.
