Okay, wow. I know a little about genetics, but I have recently been intrigued by what my single budgie might be specifically. I know she's gorgeous, but other than that I'm stumped. All I can tell you for sure is that she is a green base budgie ^^'''''

For now I'll spam you with pictures of Sammi.

(also, dont be alarmed about her bum leg. If you are interested in it, read here":

I know at least she is a younger bird (I think, I could be wrong). She's definitely been through her first molt. She has a light blue cere (of which I assume also means she's young? I have yet to see it turn crusty brown, but its definitely bright boy blue. I am also assuming she is a she @[email protected]). I find that all over her body she has green and blue patches taht fade into each other. I'm not sure what to think of it and thats what stumps me the most.

If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd be eternally grateful.

(also, I have no idea who her parents were ^^'''')

I think your Sammi is a cobalt blue single factor golden face opaline budgie.
The amount of yellow on her head/face makes me believe that, it just seems too yellow to be a yellow face type II. And in single factor golden face budgies, the yellow does spread to the blue feathers when moulting.

I agree with aluz on the opaline and goldenface, but I'm not an expert on mutations. Your bird is beautiful by the way!

I'm going to say Yellowface II Cobalt Opaline, because the majority of Goldenfaces I have seen are much more green than that. Either way, she is stunning.

Yeah, I don't think her face is a deep enough yellow to be a goldenface. The lighting in our room is pretty yellow itself. I wasn't aware how much a yellow face type 2 would spread as opposed to a goldenface, but if yellowface 2 still spreads, I think she might be that.

Ha! I am still jazzed up that the only thing I was sure on (her being a yellow base budgie) was wrong. XD That shows me.

Thank you guys so so much for the help. This was a wonderful intro to budgie genetics XD
