Until today i thought i know a bit about the genes mutation but now i am totally confused again. 2 pied budgies are supposed to have most of the offspring to be pied, but only 1 of the babies got pied with all the markings.
Nada the mom is around 2 years old standard type of budgie. By my opinion she is:
-sky blue (single factor violet, can be seen in the babies and a bit spilled violet on her neck)
Miki the father is about 3 years old pet type of budgie, and he is:
-single factor dark
- split for blue
- split for opaline
As it can be seen from the attached photo made when i was cleaning the box, the babies are:
1. double factor dominant pied blue (with violet i suppose)
2. regular blue with single dark factor (or maybe violet i am not sure)
3. opaline green clearflight pied (but the mark on the back of the head is missing)
4. two of them are single dark factor opaline blue (with violet factor i guess) (i know on the photo are only 4 chicks, the one that knows how to fly escaped from the camera, but it is the same as the one marked with green V sign)
What do you think guys any of u having comments about the color mutations, did i guess all right or i made mistakes?
It looks like the little opaline green is a clearflight although I can not see his belly, does he have markings on his upper or lower chest? And the little blue opaline pied could be a sf dominant, or a combination of both clearflight and dominant. Breeding would probably be the only way to know for sure with this pairing.
The clutch you got is quite common for the pair you have. When you look at hundreds of clutches the odds work out to being about half of each dominant mutation, but on an individual clutch basis you can easily get all or nothing
