Default 3 New Budgies = 3 new mutations needed

I picked up 3 new budgies today! I'm so excited, and of course I need help with the colour mutations.

I'm possitive this girl is a DF Dominant Pied Grey.

Clearflight Opaline???....

And this guy has me stumped. No clue to what he is other than pretty.

Congrats on the three new arrivals. From the side view your first one looks more recessive pied that dom pied to my novice eye.

Not sure about no.2 opaline/spangle/clear flight etc always get me confused

No.3 is a cute wee sky blue Yellowface (possibly even goldenface) type II with I think a wing mutation maybe spangle.

Will be interested to hear what the experts say and how close I am

Here is what I think they are

1. Mauve, opaline, and I agree with Li on the recessive pied.
I say mauve rather than grey based on the cheek patch and tail color mostly, although they do look quite similar https://cutelittlebirdiesaviary.weebl...-and-grey.html

2. Cobalt (probably sf violet, hard to tell for sure with a flash which distorts the true color) opaline and clear flight, or sf dominant pied. Can you post a photo of her from the front?

3. Cobalt, sf golden face, opaline, sf spangle.
He looks too deep a yellow to be a sf yellowface II to me personally https://cutelittlebirdiesaviary.weebl...oldenface.html

Thanks all !

Lindsey, I don't have a pic of the blue girl from the front, she's hiding out on the back part of the cage. But I can tell you that she has a solid body colour, no indication of any pied.
But to be sure, I'll see if I can get a better pic of her tomorrow.

Can you tell me again what the colour combination is again for a Rainbow budgie? I can never remember. The male kind of reminded me of a rainbow, that's why I picked him.

No worries, please do not stress her out just for a picture. I just wanted to ask in case you already had one to easily upload, I know how hard it can be to get the right picture angle believe me

Clearflight pieds normally have a small amount of pied at the top of the chest/crop area if any at all: https://cutelittlebirdiesaviary.weebl...d-budgies.html
Where as sf dominant pieds traditionally have the markings lower around the lower chest/belly area: https://cutelittlebirdiesaviary.weebl...d-budgies.html

This of course can vary greatly in any pied mutation depending on the breeding and genetic background/ They can look very similar especially if they are not bread according to the standards for the mutation, which is very common in pet type budgies I have found

If she has no markings at all, even under her wings, the safest guess is that she is a clarflight pied rather than a sf dominant with those markings

A rainbow is a composite mutation of a blue series budgie with opaline, clearwing and a yellowface mutation all visually on one budgie. Additional mutations like spangle, pied etc are not true rainbow budgie and would be disqualified on a show bench. If you eliminate the spangle from your little cutie, and add clearwing your little boy would be a true rainbow. To but me he is gorgeous no matter what!

I hope this was a bit helpful

Thanks again Lindsey! As usual, you're more than genius

Here is a pic of the front of her.

There are white feathers showing, but I think those are just her white underfluff from scurrying around the cage.

So I managed to take a closer look at the blue girl today, as she wasn't flapping around the cage.

She definitely has a pied spot on the back of her head, but it's not showing up in any of the pictures that I have so far. It's a little hard to see since her head is mostly white anyways. But you can clearly see a spot where there are no head bars.

I'm charging my good camera battery and will have some better quality pics tomorrow.

I'm also questioning the sex of grey pied. The breeder had her in with all the other females she had, but someone else mentioned that she looked male??? Again, will post better pics of her cere tomorrow.
