I went into the pet shop to get pellets for the Conures, glanced at the Budgie cage and said hi to the babies. Nothing too exciting though. Walked around to the isle with the Pellets and noticed that where they normally have Finches and Canaries was another cage of baby Budgies. Almost didn't see them! There she was
I stood there for half an hour with my 4 year old tugging on my arm while hubby stood at the front of the store with our 2 year old in a stroller, starting to cry. Trying to get someone to assist us. Finally got sick of waiting and we switched places and the cash register girl finally agreed to come up and get her for me.
When she asked which one I said "the big yellow girl with the dark wings" and as she reached in to get her she says "The yellow one on the floor? Actually that's a boy". I sort of furrowed my brow and stood up on my tip toes to get a closer look. "Uhh no definitely a girl, I'm usually pretty good at being able to tell".
She's getting mad with me at this point..
"Look, you can tell by the head thingy, it's definitely a boy" Then she goes on to tell me about how she breeds them and when I don't agree with her and say "Her cere is white with blue around the edge, she's a girl" she rudely snaps "Fine, you can just go on thinking what you want to think" and stomps off towards the cash register.
Best Budgie buying experience ever (not) but she was worth it!
