the bird you posted is a type2 yellow face with a blue body.however the yellow diffuses all over the body gvin it a slightly greenish tinge
i am sory but genetics of yellowface are very complicated.
only a breeder who has seen birth of this type or budgie expert cn say clearly

The bird in the photo is a sky blue, opaline, sf yellowface II is he your bird? If so, getting more like him should,be very easy with any sky blue normal or opaline female

If he is not yours, the easiest way to produce more chicks exactly like this would be to have a sky or cobalt blue pair (no mauves if you want a sky blue, as all the chicks would be at least cobalt with a mauve parent) with the male being an opaline, and at least one of the pair must also be a sf yellowface II.

This pair would give you all female sky or conalt opalines, and some would also be sf yellowface like the male in the picture Does that make sense?

Thanks, yes he is my bird. He came from a shelter so I don't know his age and without knowing that I would not want to breed him, is there an age for a male that would be considered not safe to breed?

If you are unsure of his age, it is very wise not to breed him It is less dangerous to breed a slightly older male than a female, since it is the females that tend to have a greater risk of egg binding/prolapse as they get older. I would not breed a male past 5 personally, and unless he has a closed leg band with his hatch year it would be impossible to know if he was 1 year or 10 given his physical appearance unfortunatly.

Since he is not the best breeding candidate, I would set out to find a pair with the mutations I listed above Do you have any other birds currently?

Thanks for the info. Yes, I have other birds, 7 total but there is only 1 that I am sure of the age, he is 6 months old now. This is Lenny when he was about 9 weeks. I am really not sure I want to breed, I would never forgive myself if anything happened to the parents as a result, however I do have an excellent avian vet that I use and fortunately is only 10 minutes from my house.
