My nephew gave me his 2 budgies a couple of months ago because he was bored of them, I was happy to take them in but didn't really need them in my breeding program. Bo kept mating with many different hens in the aviary and causing problems in general but I wasn't sure what to do with him. Yesterday the breeder that sold me my Nyla and little Spruce posted that she was looking for a sky blue or violet male to pair up with one of her hens which is exactly what Billy and Bo are, it seemed like it was meant to be. So off they went to their new loving home and since I was down 2 budgies I decided to stop by the pet shop to see if I could find a clearwing or dilute for my Rainbow breeding goal, not thinking I'd find any...
...and there was the most lovely hen I've ever seen in my life. I'm so in love with this girl! She is SPECTACULAR. The boy I found is truly lovely too! I'm so glad I stopped there on the way home. She has such a great personality too, she's obviously been handled a lot and she's a bit of a clown.
I think I know what mutations they are but just in case, it doesn't hurt to ask
Here's a million proud pictures of Olympus and Polar
Yay, congrats on your two beautiful additions!! That last picture of your new girl is so cute and silly at the same time.
I love the colours on your budgie boy!
She's so funny, always rolling around like a little puppy and getting into trouble. I had to deck the QT cage out with a million toys to keep them busy. My QT birds don't usually get a lot of toys because toys are hard to clean so they are getting special treatment!

I've been searching for a beautiful clearwing hen just like her, to pair up with one of my males to reach MY Rainbow budgie goal. LOL So far i haven't had any luck finding one.
The clearwing (I'm hoping, still waiting on the experts LOL) is the blue boy, not the hen, she's a clearflight pied (I think!). So I don't think your boy and mine would make a good pair haha
I haven't seen a lot of people on TB or any other forum posting pictures of clearwings, I think they are pretty uncommon in general I really wish you luck finding your hen!
Here's my guy, Tango According to Lindsey, I only need to eliminate the Spangle from him, and he'll be a true rainbow. She suggested I breed him to a Clearwing.
Tango is so pretty! Even though he's not a "true rainbow" he's just as lovely. I'm hoping for some babies just like him when I pair up my violet cobalt opaline cock with my sky double factor yellowface double factor spangle hen. The only thing is I don't know if she's type I or type II yellowface so it will be a surprise!
I'm hoping to pair up this boy with my "fake rainbow" hen, Opal. The only thing she's missing to be a true rainbow is clearwing also (she's a greywing instead). I won't get true rainbows from them this year because my clearwing cock is not opaline but it will be a good start.
Hello Allie, I think you nailed the color varieties quite well, the boy bird is a clearwing sky blue cock, and the young girl is a grey cinnamon wing opaline clearflight pied. good luck with them and your rainbow ambitions
