Default Yellow face Recessive Pied?

I have a recessive pied female, she is white with sky blue on her belly(also I believe she is opaline) but she has a lemon yellow face, so what mutation is she and what babies would I get from her if I breed her with a yellow recessive pied with green opaline?? Thanks for any help.

It sounds like she is a Yellowface type I.

If you bred with a green recessive pied then the green would be dominant. So all offspring would be green recessive pied split for blue and some split for Yellowface.

Opaline is sex linked, if your male has it then you can expect the female chicks to show Opaline and the males to be split for it. If the females has it then the females will be normal and the males again split for Opaline.

Hope that helps. An excellent cite for working out breeding expect ions can be found here.

It would depend on what you mean by colourful. Green is the dominant colour so unless he is split for blue then all his babies would be green as well. You could however put him with a dominant pied which would produce yellow/green babies. Or you could play with wing colour mutations and try pairing him with a spangle.

The site I gave you a link to in the previous post has lots of pictures and really is well worth taking the time to take a browse through. CuteLittleBirdies is a member here and is a great help with those difficult mutations that stump the rest of us.
