Default Journey to the end of the rainbow

I searched and found a blue clearwing to pair with my "almost rainbow" greywing (Opal), I was lucky enough to find 2 clearwing boys so now I'm trying to find a second hen to pair with my other clearwing (who is unfortunately green) so that hopefully I can pair up their offspring and achieve some rainbow chicks.

The problem is, I don't have a hen that is just right and I'm having trouble finding one.

Most of my girls are tiny little things and I really wanted to keep the chicks a decent size but none of my English girls are a step in the right direction either.

I'm going to keep searching for the right hen outside my flock but incase I don't find one, who be the best choice to pair with my clearwing boy?

Here's my albums with my flock:

I was thinking Blueberry Pie..

I realize she is a dominant pied and not the very best candidate but she has more going for her than any of my other hens

She's yellowface II
She's Opaline
She's part English
The place I bought her from, I also bought a this guy:

It was thought they were from the same clutch (they're not club rung), is that possible? He was a spangle so wouldn't she be a spangle too if they were from the same clutch or is it possible for them to be siblings?

And if so could it also be possible that she's hiding some dilute genes? If she's hiding dilute, I would get some clearwing chicks from pairing her with a clearwing cock the first try?

This is what the gencalc said:

% from all 1.0

25.0% 1.0 green /bl.yellowface clearwing opaline
25.0% 1.0 clearwing /bl.yellowface dilute opaline <--- this chick
25.0% 1.0 green (Aus)pied(sf) /bl.yellowface clearwing opaline
25.0% 1.0 clearwing (Aus)pied(sf) /bl.yellowface dilute opaline

% from all 0.1

25.0% 0.1 green /bl.yellowface clearwing
25.0% 0.1 clearwing /bl.yellowface dilute
25.0% 0.1 green (Aus)pied(sf) /bl.yellowface clearwing
25.0% 0.1 clearwing (Aus)pied(sf) /bl.yellowface dilute

Any advice would be so very much appreciated

I would go with Blueberry Pie or Gandolf if you can not find another candidate before you want to set them up Blueberry Pie will give you the yellowface and opaline splits, but unfortunatly possibly the dominant pie. Gandolf will not give you the yellowface or opaline, but will give you all clearwings with no unwanted mutations in theory.

Perhaps you could set up one with one clearwing, and one with the other? That way you will have unrelated babies to pair next year and hopefully get some true rainbows

The little male you got with Blueberry could easily be her brother if neither was a DF spangle in just looking at the mutations of the birds

Thanks so much Lindsey. Unfortunately Gandalf was on of the 2 that escaped the aviary so she isn't an option. I'm pairing my blue clearwing up with my yf II sky opaline greywing, I just needed a second choice for my green clearwing. I'm glad Blueberry pie is an OK option, I think I'll go with her. Thanks again for the advice!

I am sorry Allie, I had forgot about that about your little Gandolf

Yes, I think you have a good sound option there if you keep non- dominant pied chicks from this pairing for your future plans if at all possible
