Default Aqua baby mutation

Hi everyone,

My new chick has just started showing his colour. I'm wondering what his mutation and sex is to put in the breeding records please. Mum is cobalt ops line Texas clear body and dad is cobalt blue normal. The chick has white wings with blue coming through on the black tail and flight feathers, and sky blue body. Thankyou for any help xx

Predictive text strikes again. Meant to be opaline for mum.

Looking at the colour on its rump and the markings on the wings, I say your chick is a sky blue normal budgie.
It's probably still too soon to tells its gender, and for a guess at it we would need a front shot of the chick's entire beak/cere area taken in natural light (no flash from camera).

Thanks Aluz, this is the only shot I have in normal light.

The chick is still too young for me to have a guess at determining the gender. Maybe someone else will be able to help you out. It's usually easier to tell when they reach the 4 weeks old mark.

I beg to differ, the chick has no visual opaline markings.
If the chick is a male, it can carry the opaline gene in split (hidden) form and that is if the mother is an opaline.

I am sorry, I was too quick answering, I thought the chick had white down
like opalines have.
But he sure is cute!!

Here he is today, nearly 4 weeks old. He likes to be talked to. He looks like a normal sky blue, but I've never seen the blue in the black flights before. Very pretty.
