So my budgie has been determined (or so we think) to be a sky blue sf spangle, but he's going through a molt (I think - so far the only sign are pin feathers on his head, and not a lot of them) and I'm starting to see some colours that I never saw before.
For example, the blue on his body seems much less muted (and much brighter between the wings on his back), but I'm starting to see a LOT of purple (like a really pretty violet colour), and some shiny (and I mean SHINY) baby blue near his rear and on the base of his tail. Almost electric baby blue, leaning almost towards a teal colour. But it's SO shiny!
I tried to take a picture, but the details just aren't showing up.
I didn't think this was common in a spangle...? I've only been researching mutations for a couple of weeks though, so I'm really about as beginner as they get.
Is that common for new colours to grow in after (or during) a moult? I just can't believe I didn't notice them before.
