Slate? or Mauve with Violet(sf? df?)

I've been having some argues with some friends about the mutations of these 2 budgies (they are a pair) and i am mostly interested to know everyone's opinions mostly about the male's mutation.

So what do you guys and girls think they are? They are both Spangle Opaline and they both have WHITE tails, WHITE cheek patches but male has a also very little dark violet or dark grey spots.

The female also seems to be Dominant-Pied as well.

Is the male Slate? Or Mauve with Violet(sf? df?)

I have given them the ids "B7" for the female and "B8" for the male.

Also here are 2 videos of them (view them in 1080p mode for Full HD experience):

I see grey with a dark factor or 2 when I look at the hen.

The boy looks like my "Shade" whom is mauve with df violet but I've never seen a slate up close and personal so it's hard for me to say. He is very dark in that 3rd pic.

Your photo of budgies seems to be more (blue-ish) vibrant colours from my male. At first i thought Anthracite??? but then i noticed from the photos with flash he showed some purple.

My hen seems Mauve, she doesn't have any vibrant colours so she probably doesn't have any Violet Factor.

My personal opinnion about the male is that he is Mauve (Mauve is 2 darkness factor blue, is this correct?) and Violet (df). I will try to get a closer photo of his cheek patches, which are a mix of white and dark violet i think...

I don't think we have slates here in my country but we import A LOT of parrots from abroad so i wouldn't be surpised to see any new mutations from Germany. The only mutation that we don't have for sure here is the Texas Clearbody.

by the way thanks for the fast reply.

Please note that i know a lot about mutations but i do mistakes half of the times as i don't notice some stuf.

The hen has a light blue hue to her so I thought grey with a violet factor but I could very well be wrong. It's always hard for me when they have white cheek patches and my eyesight isn't great.

I think you're right about the male, 2 dark factors and 2 violet factors could very well be the reason for his dark colour. I'm not sure if anyone here has much experience with anthracite or slate to tell you for sure. I haven't seen any here in Australia yet but we have lots of Texas Clearbodies. In fact the other cock in that photo is a TCB I found in a pet shop.

I'm still learning about mutations and I have a long way to go but I love it, it really intrigues me. I hope you are able to figure out for sure what they are!

Same here. Just when i think i am sure about an identification i make, i realize that 50% of the times i am wrong.

I noticed that for a more exact identification, a lot of photos of the budgie are needed in Daylight. And it also depends on the camera you are using and the settings.

Your hen reminds me very much of my Jemima. I don't know a whole lot about mutations...I think she's a mauve opaline sf spangle. I'll post a photo tomorrow from my OC (on an iPad at the moment).

I think you are right about the hen's mutation, but she is also a pied.

This is unbelievable, a few hours ago, i went home for lunch only to find out that this specific hen murdered 2 babies (that hatched yesterday) and seriously injured their budgie mom. There were another 3 eggs in the nest that she didn't damaged and I placed them in an incubator (because mom is seriously injured and refuses to enter the nest). I hope the babies will hatch normally in 1-3 days. Now i either have to find a foster mom urgently or make my own brooder. I know how to handfeed budgies but never fed hatchlings.

Wish me luck. :(
