Default PJ.. mutation help

Hi..
This is my smallest little guy... born last August and WAY smaller than his robust sister, Oscar.

His parents are the two in my avatar. Mom is rec. pied and dad (Cody) is mr. normal
Oscar is green normal, I think..

What the heck is PJ?? What is the wing pattern?? I'm just plain curious... no plans for little PJs or anything like that Also, he's had his baby molt and now a first 'big boy' molt in process. His chest area used to be a funny light pea green, now is more yellow.

As usual, photo quality not so good...

I can't help with mutation, just had to say what a handsome little fellow that is...

Have you ever looked at Lindsey's mutation info on her site ?

OK, as everyone knows -- I don't "do" mutuations.

But -- since PJ looks almost exactly like my little Shelby did

Shelby

I'm going to venture that I believe PJ is a green greywing recessive pied.

Now we'll see when one of the experts come on how close I am.

Thanks, Randy.. I have looked extensively at Lindsey's mutation info.. such a great resource.. I can overthink things and make it more complicated... so end up confused. Like now.

I wouldn't say either of the birds are Recessive Pied... Because from my experience, the Recessive pied gene takes most of the coloring out of the wing. I'd say that your's is a clearwing or a greywing, but other than that I couldn't be sure without seeing the belly.

That's very interesting, JW
This was the information I was given with regard to Sunny and Shelby's mutations.

Shelby is a greywing recessive pied, I think he is dark green because the greywing gene lightens the shade. You can tell the mutation is recessive pied by the way the pied patches are distributed

Thanks, JW... I wondered if he could be dilute? I'm going back to Lindsey's guide... I'm going to have to look on his belly to see what color he has there. My guy's mom is recessive pied. Below is a photo of her during a molt (hence the tail feather)

I would vote for a dilute that takes after mom but I'm no expert.

PJ is a bit tricky to pick from those photos but it is clear that his wing marking pattern is Normal. There is something diluting them and his body colour which is likely Greywing. I would guess his body colour is Olive too.

So, I am guessing Olive Greywing.
