Default Wondering How I got a Grey baby

HI, i need experts opinion i have a pair of budgies female is a normal green and male is a Opaline lime green split TCB, ive breed them twice since i got them, first clutch i got 5 normal green babies and 1 TCB, this time around i got 5 TCB 1 of them is a cinnamon TCB, and i got 1 grey baby also, can male budgies be split to grey or how is that possible ?

Aww, the chick is gorgeous. The male won't be split for grey as the grey is dominant and would show as grey/green. He will be split for sky blue, as this is what will give you a grey chick when the female is a grey. She is also probably only a SF Grey. Though I would have expected to have grey/greens in this and the last clutch also.

and what about the 5 visual TCB in the clutch how would that be possible with the male only being split to it

If I have my sex linked mutations right, then technically 50% of females could be visually TCB. Same would go for cinnamon. Males would be potentially 50% split but this would only be identifible from breeding them. So what you have is a clutch full of females who all threw TCB on the coin toss .

I thought the hen was a normal dark green not a gray green?
If she is gray green that explains the gray chick, but you still got a very special clutch here my friend!

yea im so sorry it was a type O, i just realized this at the moment after reading my orginal post, the female is a normal green and the male is a lime green Opaline split TCB the 2 birds on the first picture are the parents

Having Grey normal from Green normal is a normal surprise

I like TCB please post pictures of babies if they are fully feathered or when they will
