parakeetsinva is on a distinguished road
Default genetics question

I just found out I have a male and female parakeet. The male is a normal blue. the female is a green series cinnamon. What can I expect color wise if I let them raise their eggs? thanks!

Unless there's an underlying mutation (hidden or carried by one of the parents) then most of the chicks will be normal. I don't know percentages of blue or green, but you'll probably get both. If they had a clutch of 4 eggs I would predict one would be cinnamon, but that's a guess. Anyone who knows percentages of cinnamon vs. normal feel fee to correct me!

All babies will be normal green unless the mother is split for blue, then you have a chance of both blue series and green series normals.
You won't get any visual cinnamon babies unless the father is split for cinnamon as it is a sex linked gene. ^^

With this pair:
If father is indeed split for cinnamon; you will have a chance at both male and female cinnamon.
If father is not split for cinnamon; you will get all normal chicks with the resulting males being split cinnamon.

Edit: You can always expect surprises to pop up as well! It all depends on the parents hidden/split genes!
