I always thought they were the same, oops!
Do lutino budgies have red eyes, whereas double factor spangles have dark eyes?
Just wondering since I'm picking up a new hand reared budgie in about a week & i would like to be able to determine his mutation. :)

An all yellow budgie can be:
1. Lutino (green series albino) - red eyes (with or without iris rings depending upon the masked mutation)
2. Green series dark-eyed clear - solid black eyes continuing into adulthood
3. Green series double factor spangle - black eyes with iris rings after maturity

What are the mutations of the baby's parents? To produce a df spangle, both parents would have to be spangle.

I asked the breeder and she says both parents are spangle. :)
Thanks for your help!

Aha! Watch for developing iris rings to confirm s/he's df spangle. :D
