Default Colourings / Mutations

Hello.

Just wondering if anyone could help us to work out what colourings / mutations our little guys might be!

Alba is the pale white & blue, and Petrie is more colourful the blue/cream one.

What might they be?

I have had a go and have an idea of what they might be - but would be interested to see what others think & then see how good I am at the identifying!

Look forward to people's responses!

Patrick

It does seem to be a complex business, working this stuff out! I had a go using the Mutation and Colour Guide here: Cute Little Birdies Aviary - Welcome To Our Aviary! which is super informative! But I am still not totally sure, so I hope some more expert people can help out with the definitive answers as I'd be really interested to know

The first one looks like a Greywing spangle cobalt.
The other one is a Spangle cobalt yellowface dominant pied.

Thanks!! That looks spot on for Petrie. I think Alba is maybe that, but Dilute Cobalt, as he is def more pale than regular cobalt on his body. There seems to be almost endless possibilities!!

The first one is a grey opaline greywing. Not spangle.
The second one is a cobalt yellowface spangle dominant pied.

Thanks for the replies! That looks like a consensus for Petrie! I have looked up opaline markings for Alba, but it looks like he should have a V of his head colour extending down between the wings, but he does not. Does that mean he is not opaline? Also, his body is more blue (very pale) than grey of his wings. Does any of this change what people are thinking? I'll add another photo of Alba for extra ID possibilities!

Thanks again! There are so many combinations it is tricky but fun to work out what they are!

I do think he's opaline. Please post a close-up photo of his back, taken in natural lighting.

Thanks for your help Here's a photo of his back. I hope this is ok, I took it though the perspex of his cage base earlier today. It shows the colours & markings well, but has a reflection of our skylight on back of Alba's head!! I will try and get a better shot tomorrow (night in the UK now so budgies sleeping under their cage covers.)

He does appear to be opaline.

I agree he might be spangle, too. It's hard to tell when his markings are so diluted. Plus I'm not a mutations expert.

I hope some mutations experts find this thread.

He's lovely!
