The patchy/uneven tone is probably due to the molt. Newer feathers will be much brighter in color than the old ones! Especially on a bird with golden face as the new feathers will develop with even more yellow.

Double factor spangles have almost all body color and all head/wing barring pigment removed from their feathers making it impossible to tell whether or not they are opaline or pied. Occasionally they'll have very faint suffusion on their bellies which might be the case with your boy.

It is possible that he is carrying an opaline or a pied gene but you wouldn't be able to tell without breeding him and seeing what he produces in his chicks as Doublefactor spangle removes pigment from ALL feathers and masks most genes that effect body color and barring. The exception to this being, of course, Goldenface/ yellow face.

Great explanation, Krystal! That's what I thought with the patchy feathers. The only reason I would say Opaline is because it dilutes body color 10% compared to the mask feathers, and if this happens then maybe he would be opaline.
However, with the new pictures, it does look like he is neon yellow ALL OVER
