Default What is his mutation?

One of my couples have produced a beautiful baby boy and I was wondering what mutation he is. I was very surprised that I got him from this couple. I was thinking of keeping him for further breeding in the future. Could he be a dilute?

Oh my goodness, he is absolutely gorgeous!
He's a cobalt greywing yellowface I.
What color were his parents?

The parents look like this:

Budgies are so full of surprises. I never thought I would get a chick like this from them.

What a gorgeous pair of birds!! They are absolutely stunning.
Well, he got the cobalt from mom and the yellowface from dad. He's also split for Opaline, since mom is a visual opaline.
Both parents are split for greywing since it needs two copies of the gene to be visual and neither of them are visual.
What a coincidence that both happen to be split for greywing!! He is stunning
I always love chicks and parents because you often discover something you never new about the parents with the help of the chicks!

I hope they aren't closely related. They are from the pet shop and came from Germany, and I purchased them 6 months apart to minimize the risk of them being related. I will never know for sure though. I'm happy I got a baby like this.

Hi there, it is a gorgeous baby. Along with whats been mentioned it is also Opaline, rather than split for it.

Then the father would have to be split for opaline, since the mother is opaline and he couldn't be opaline without the father being split.
Interesting, I thought it was just some suffusion. Didn't consider that Dad may have been split for opaline.

If you look closely you can also see the Opaline wing bar, the bar of white showing on the primaries when the wings are closed.

I didn't know the father had to be split for opaline to produce opaline chicks. Then he must be, because many of their chicks are opaline:

I have so much to learn about budgie genetics. Do you have any tips on where to find detailed information about it?
