Default strange markings?

hi guys
Was given these 2 boys a few weeks ago and after their quarantine i noticed their markings were different to my other normal budgies
one is over a year, he has his iris rings and looks fully mature apart from the heavy flecking
the other is a lighter green (but not by much) and is still a young one
i originally thought opaline because they do have a sort of V shape but there is too much black to be opaline
one of them even has a blue spot on his belly (will attach picture in comments)

First 3 pictures are of the older one
last 2 pictures are of the younger one

the older one has just finished a molt as he had pin feathers when i got him and over the weeks he has got to looking better

thanks in advance

Congratulations on your new additions, Sarah!

Well, I can tell you that the first one is a grey green opaline. He is opaline for sure--you can tell because he has body colour in the wings. It does look sort of dark for opaline, but you can see with the heavy flecking and very dark markings he has an excess of melanin in his feathers, and that's why they are dark. I don't know what the blue patch is, maybe just a genetic deformity of some sort? But it's very pretty

The second one is a light green opaline, again there's a lot of melanin and for that reason, his markings look so dark even for an opaline. Birds with excess melanin also commonly show it with heavy flecking, like these two

Hope this helps!

Now I could really use the "I fully agree with StarlingWings" button!

They are definitely Opaline, you can see in the third photo the pale stripe on the flights, sometimes called the wing bar, which is an Opaline trait. They both look Grey Green to me.

Heavy flecking can look quite interesting!
